I'm a jack-of-all-trades (sound, locations, set dec/dress, video village, AD) - a real renaissance man. As resident of NM since the days of 'Easy Rider' and 'Silverado', now ‘Terminator Salvation’ and ‘No Country for Old Men’, the NM State film incentives have helped a strapped industry to return to our beautiful land of entrapment. Independent filmmakers sprout up weekly, chasing our elusive light to bottle it, in hopes of recognition and enlivening a sullied audience... I'm a devotee of the Light & Sound teachings, and I love to swing boom for well stocked Mixers, aggressively catching the subtlest inflection. I cable, too, 'cause all mixers deserve to focus on the moment at hand. I mix/boom for small budget shows and shorts, building my kit’s inventory monthly (12 projects in 2008). I write to capture sound realizations as well -- Sami’s pinched face, baked by the harsh noon above her, relaxes as Jake's shadow slipps over it, shading her eyes enough for them both to open. He reads her gaze, and finally understands--he was her reason for charging the unhinged behemoth. At last, Jake's creased brow softens. Sami smiles at that. A long, final breath passes her caked lips, eyes beholding eternity. Caught in his arms, she becomes the freedom he now grasped she always longed for… (okay, at the moment, the cheese is spread pretty free here)
