The First T3 Film

Our first short film was definitely an adventure. We chose to keep several of the mistakes that made it into the movie on the day of the premiere. With only two days to edit, the final product came out fairly well. You can watch it here.

Film Log: Days 8-12

Midnight Madness: Beer and a Bad Movie!

“People making a truly terrible film often think they're making one of the greatest films of all time."~Joe Scott

Joe Scott of the Greensboro News and Record told us about an event he was putting on at the Carousel Luxury Cinema with the tag line “Bad movie, Cheap Beer”. Say no more Joe, we’re there. (Not like we had anything to do like, oh I don’t know, make a movie) Five dollars bought you a ticket to see “Switchblade Sisters” and 3 free beers. You can’t beat that.

Writing Process (Days 1 through 5)

As you all know, this is the first time we, or anyone else for that matter has done something like this. Without a definitive plan, there is definitely a “fly by the seat of your pants” mentality going on right now. After the kick-off, we had this big long list of resources. The next logical step is to write the script incorporating the resources we have. Thus, the challenge begins. As I mentioned in the earlier post, several members of the Greensboro team were interested in writing. Part of the goal of this tour is to allow everyone the opportunity to participate in whatever way they want even if the area they want to participate in is not where they have the most experience. Overall, we have four people interested in writing. Now we enter that scary undefined region again and have to figure out what’s that best way to allow 4 people to express themselves and have a creative stake in the script while still maintaining a cohesive story line.

Filmblazer Weekly Episode 1

20:13 minutes (18.52 MB)

The first episode of Filmblazer Weekly.  Join Josh, Jamie, and Adam as they talk about the Greensboro T3 Kickoff, the BattleWagon, and more.

T3 Greensboro Kick-Off

On the car ride over to the Broach Theater on March 26th, Josh and I barely spoke to each other, both of us trying to anticipate what was to come. We had no idea how many people would be there, no idea what kind of people would be there, and most importantly no idea what we were doing as the leaders of the T3 Greensboro kick-off. We had overcome so many hurdles to get there I don’t think either of us truly believed the day would come. Then all of a sudden we’re driving to the kick-off and it starts to sink in, like holy crap we actually have to do this. People actually expect us to make a movie in two weeks. They actually expect us to know what we’re doing. Well surprise! We don’t! No one’s ever done this before. There’s no manual to follow. We just have to make it up as we go along!

Looks Like We Made It

Wow, has it been a journey to get here! I can’t believe we’re actually working on our first T3 film. We’ve been planning non-stop since January spending 12-16 hours a day trying to orchestrate the whole tour and even before that we were working probably 6-8 hours a day, while also working real jobs full time. August of last year, all we had was the idea: two weeks, 14 cities, 14 short films, community based. That idea has grown and evolved so much. Key decisions were made to take us the direction that we are going now. Just the layout of the website has changed a million times since conception.

Tour of the Camper

Watch as Jamie tries to reenact an episode of MTV Cribs (it's really embarrassing) and shows you their sweet ride/house for 7 months. Explore the luxurious camper (do those 2 words belong in the same sentence?) from the extensive cabinet space to the stainless steel appliances. We have no idea how anything works so if you have any good RV advice leave them in the comments! Also we want your input on what we should name it. So far some of the suggestions include Moviemobile, FilmWAGON, PlotBus, FBRV, T3 Mobile Command Center, FilmROVER, Battle Wagon, Beeyotch, and Bullitt.

Top 14 Things That Might Go Wrong

1. Josh gets eaten by a bear.

2. Some kind of natural disaster blows away the camper.

3. Someone trips over a boom pole and gets seriously injured (that’s only happened to me like twice).

4. Josh gets arrested.

5. The whole crew gets arrested.

6. We run out of gas in the desert.

7. We get seriously lost and have to be rescued.

8. One of our premieres is on the same day as the opening day of some huge box office hit of the Harry Potter magnitude and no one comes to our premiere.

9. We offend some extreme activist group and they picket our production.

10. We all get the flu and the movie’s horrible because we feel like crap.
